Four-weeks to go and I fly to the other side of the world and start again. In 2005 I sort of did a similar thing, but only ended up doing 5-months traveling central Europe. 17-countries later I landed back in New Zealand intending to have a short stint here, and then escape to Melbourne to live but I ended up settling back in Auckland. There was a lot of unfinished business to take care of, and running away to Melbourne would have only post-poned things further.
Four-years on I have a 2-year visa for the UK, and it isn’t my intention to travel and come back in a matter of months, or escape to Melbourne. My intention is to live, work, and travel Europe. I’ve never lived anywhere other than New Zealand so it is time to venture forth and do so! Funnily enough it was around this time of year that I went last time, around my birthday. It must be a change time for me.
Over the last few weeks I’ve got rid of a lot of stuff, and I can still see I won’t fit everything in my backpack, and under the 20-kg limit. So this weekend it’s time to be even more ruthless with another visit to the OP shops, and recycle boutique. Half the problem is my pile of gadgets I can’t do without such as my cameras, laptop, and so on. That is half my pack alone!
