This weekend we went down to Taupo to watch the Ironman. It is one of those events where you see people live life times in one day. It is tiring to spectate, let alone do!

Amanda and I swapped over driving in Tahuna and a bunch of cows came running over to our car. Clearly, not much happens in Tahuna for us swapping seats to be entertaining to the local cattle.

We stayed just outside of Taupo on Huka Falls road.
And had dinner at this restaurant. The little Indian woman clearly expected a rush of customers on Saturday night as we walked in and be-lined it for a table for three.
“Oh no, table for two, you sit over here ok.”
There were 4 people in the entire restaurant. Just four.
“Can’t we just sit there?”
“No no no.” She replied.
I looked down at her, the conviction on her face and wilted, grumbling under my breath as I sat at the two seater, not in view of the race. It was like being told you couldn’t do something by your mother, as a five year old. The whole time we were there in this restaurant that would have sat at least 60 people, there were only 6 of us in total. But of course we couldn’t sit in the 3-seater!

Not many people finished in the light. It’s dawn to dusk in every way.
